The Kite Primary Federation

About Us

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12

Following many years of a close working relationship between Stockcross C. of E. Primary School and Welford and Wickham C. of E. Primary School, The Kite Primary Federation was officially formed in April 2020.

A ‘federation’ is a formal arrangement where 2 or more maintained schools (Local Authority) share a single governing board.  There is one Executive Headteacher who works across both schools.

Since 2024, the federation has benefitted from not only an Executive Headteacher but a dedicated SENDCo working across the federation 3 days a week. There are also a number of other staff who work across the federation including bus drivers, a caretaker, a premises manager and a number of teaching assistants who support children with SEND.

Schools within a federation remain as maintained schools and are treated as individual schools.  This means that the unique identity of both Stockcross and Welford and Wickham schools are retained whilst benefiting from one governing board, an executive headteacher and the ability to share staffing, resources and skills across the federation.  The schools in the Kite Primary Federation are also both Voluntary Aided schools which means that they are part of Oxford Diocese Board of Education and also benefit from support from the diocese.

The Kite Primary Federation are always looking for new and creative ways to support the curriculum and enhance the opportunities for the children.
