Our Children
Welcome to Oak Class
Since the earliest ties between humans and oak trees, they have been associated with strength, stability, endurance and power. We are Oak Class.
Years 5 and 6 work together under the direction of the class teacher Mrs Paine, with Mrs Kilding teaching on a Monday. Together we make sure that the classroom is a supportive, encouraging environment where children can access a rich and varied curriculum.
As part of being the Oak class and the oldest in the school, there are now the opportunities to take on new roles of responsibility, such as House and Sports Captains and members of the School Council.
We make use of our Maths knowledge and skills in our lessons but also with Timestables Rockstar and mental math challenges. We read daily; as individuals, as a whole class or in small groups, to deepen our vocabulary and comprehension. We also use Spelling Shed to practise our spellings and test our SPAG knowledge, as well as completing Maths quizzes on there too! Log ins are all in your children’s reading records.
Using cross-curricular links in our subjects, and by grounding our learning in real-life situations where possible, it makes it relevant to every day life and prepares pupils for the exciting future!
You can view all of the subjects and information about what we will be learning on the ‘Key Information’ pages of the website.
