Our Christian Vision Explained
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” John 15:12
In John 15:12, Jesus is speaking to His disciples during what is known as the Farewell Discourse, which takes place just before His arrest and crucifixion. This chapter is part of a larger teaching (John 13–17) where Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure, offering them comfort, instruction, and encouragement to remain faithful.
The broader context of John 15 focuses on abiding in Christ (symbolised by the metaphor of the vine and branches), the importance of bearing fruit, and the command to love one another. This love is not merely an emotional affection but an active, self-giving, and enduring love that reflects the love of Christ.
Stockcross is fortunate to be part of the Kite Primary Federation and the collaboration and partnership with Welford and Wickham school is a crucial and unique feature of the school and the federations visions and values underpin both schools. Whilst this is not typical; what makes the schools and the federation unique is the shared vision and values and the strength in the relationship of the shared working.
In the review of the school’s vision and values in September 2024, staff and governors agreed that the metaphor of vines and branches reflected the schools’ relationships with each other, the strength of the collaboration and the underpinning of the Christian value for the federation. It is not the key message; but provides a context for the passage and further expands the message of loving one another and the context of Jesus talking to his disciples.
It also reflects our vision of working hard and perseverance and that through collaboration we can be stronger and ‘grow’ more together – but being known and loved as individuals.
Spirituality
In The Kite Primary Federation, spirituality is defined as:
Spirituality is awareness of our relationship with ourselves as individuals, other individuals, the world around us and beyond. Developing spirituality, enriched by our values, helps us to flourish by nurturing the mind, body and soul so we can follow our curiosity to explore the questions that are important to us.
Children’s spiritual awareness is developed throughout our curriculum and children are given opportunities to reflect and respond; they are encouraged to be curious about the world around them and they ask questions and relish in the power of ‘wondering’.
We use the language of ‘windows’, ‘mirrors’ and ‘doors’ to help us explore this.
Worship
The daily act of Collective Worship is an important part of the day at Stockcross School. Worship is inclusive and invitational and follows the same format; regardless of whether it is whole school, class or community. Worship is linked to one or more of the school values of

Services
We have a strong relationship with St John’s, our local parish church in Stockcross and with St Andrew’s church in Boxford. Regular services are held at church throughout the school year, which the whole school attends.
